A Lesson from the Simpson
The true origin of Saltbush & Clay didn't happen in a design studio; it began with a friendship in the heart of the Simpson Desert. I had the profound honor of forging a bond with the last known medicine man of that region—a man whose lineage and knowledge of the land predated modern maps.
Watching him move through a landscape—regularly exploring the “clay” pans surrounded by “saltbush”—that many would call "barren," I realised he wasn't just surviving; he was reading a library of ancient biological and spiritual data. He showed me that the desert is not an empty space, but a sophisticated system of resilience. Those encounters changed me. They taught me that the "Ancient Wisdom" we often dismiss is actually the ultimate high-performance technology.
