What is a phyto-complex?
A plant contains a mixture of naturally occurring compounds rather than one isolated active. We use the term phyto-complex to describe that whole botanical mixture.
Many of those compounds are water-soluble, also described as hydrophilic, meaning water-loving.
Why the extraction method matters
The way plant material is processed shapes the extract it becomes. Different methods recover different components, so the name of a plant alone never fully describes an ingredient.
Many methods rely on heat, which can break down delicate plant compounds. Cellular Extraction™, the Australian process behind our extracts, applies targeted high pressure instead, capturing the water-soluble phyto-complex while helping keep it intact. The aim is to retain the broad botanical mixture, not a single isolated compound.
What “Cellular” means
The name describes drawing compounds out of the plant's cells during extraction. It refers to the process, not to living plant cells in your serum.
From extract to formula
An extract is one part of the work. Turning it into a refined daily serum took two years of development with our formulation laboratory in Sydney, balancing compatibility, stability, texture and packaging.
Because these active botanicals are at their best fresh, we make 13°S in small batches with a 6-month shelf life.
